A Brief History About Beaumont Habitat
Habitat for Humanity International has helped more than 4 million people construct, rehabilitate or preserve more than 800,000 homes worldwide, making Habitat the largest not-for-profit builder in the world. Habitat for Humanity of Jefferson County is the sixth oldest Habitat affiliate in the United States. Beaumont’s Habitat for Humanity affiliate was founded in 1978 and incorporated in 1979.
Because of the need throughout the Mid Counties/Triangle area, eventually it changed its name from Beaumont Habitat for Humanity to Habitat for Humanity of Jefferson County. This single affiliate has built over 125 homes housing more than 500 people.
